SUDS Presents: O Week 2016

O Week is coming!

From the 24th-26th February SUDS will be hosting a series of events at the Cellar Theatre as well as in and around the Sydney University campus as a way to welcome in our new members and welcome back the old.

Check out our full Facebook event here

Everyday (Wed-Fri)

SUDS Stall: 9am-4pm, Eastern Ave (tbc)

Join your friendly Social Secretaries, Clare and Harry, for a $1 lunch on the Cellar Lawns from 12pm-2pm each day of O-Week. Never been to the Cellar before? Meet at the SUDS’ stall at 11:50am and we’ll walk over together.

BBQ Lunch: 12pm-2pm, Cellar Lawns

Get ready for a hands-on introduction to SUDS! We’ll be starting at 2pm with Actors Group, a drama workshop run by Vice President, Maddie. Want to learn about the Cellar Theatre? Have any burning questions about the technological aspects of a show? After Actors Group, join our Cellar Officers, Chris and Alex, at 3.30 pm for a tour and Q&A of our performance space. Stick around after the workshop and tour and come with us to Courtyard Café for our O Week edition of Play With Your Food. For just $5 you get a drink, some pizza and excellent chats. We’ll then all head back down to the Cellar to see the final show of the Summer Season, Trust.

Actors’ Group: 2pm-3:30pm, Cellar Theatre

Cellar Tours and Q&A: 3:30pm-4:30pm, Cellar Theatre

PWYF: 4:30pm-6pm, Courtyard Cafe

Trust: 6pm, Cellar Theatre

Keen to see some theatre making in action? Our first show of the year, Lady, opens in Week 1, but you can catch a sneak peak and a behind the scenes look at 11am, in the Cellar Theatre. Join director Shevvi Barrett-Brown and their cast in an open rehearsal and see them create theatre magic right before your eyes!

Open Lady rehearsal: 11am-12pm, Cellar Theatre

SUDS combines with MUSE, MADSOC and SURCAS for a night of free food, drinks and trivia. Join us at 6pm at the Forest Lodge Hotel to meet the other performing arts societies on campus and take part in trivia games which will almost certainly include obscure Shakespeare references and at least one rendition of a song from Les Mis.

Performing Arts Trivia Night: 6pm-late, Forest Lodge Hotel, Arundel St, Forest Lodge.

On Friday night, SUDS is hosting a kick off party to launch ourselves into a big semester of sitting at Courtyard all day rather than attending class. Beginning at 5:30pm outside Studio B, we’ll enjoy some free pizza before settling in for the first Rough Cuts of the year. If you’ve spent all week watching theatre and are just itching to get up and perform something yourself, then this is your chance. Rough Cuts is a super casual setting where anyone can perform anything. If you’ve got something in mind, message social secretaries Clare or Harry (facebook message is fine, or via Otherwise if you’re feeling unsure, know that you can always hop up on the night when we open the floor to anyone! After Rough Cuts, we’re heading off campus to Mr Falcons to end O Week with free food, drinks and some sneaky dancing. Make sure you come with us straight after Rough Cuts so you can enjoy the bar tab!
