Women Salwar uits – Fashion Trend that Never Changes

Women always prefer bright and new models apparels and hence the designers and manufacturers are always making sure they produce such variety that is able to meet the customer needs. They are known by various names among the different women. Some may call it shirt shalwar, salwar kameez or Punjabi suits. It all means the same with slight variations in patterns.

Women SalwarBefore the suits used to have a knee length top and a baggy bottom called salwar and used to have a long dupatta. Slowly the top became quite long and was worn with tight fitting pant called chudidars. Further the straight cut tops vanished and turned into long flared frock type tops. They become famous with the name of anarkali and were teamed with the chudidars. Further experiments with the bottom were done making it a very fluffy bottom with many pleats called patiala or dhoti salwar. This was best worn with a short top to show the beautiful pleats. The frock style slowly vanished and people again went into long tops but this time they were teamed with long parallels. This was a total contrast to the parallels that were worn with short tops previously. Further now the bottom has narrowed down and called cigarette or narrow pants. And we can still expect much more changes in the overall patterns in the future.

This form of women’s wear is actually a three piece dress, it has a long or short shirt depending on the trend, a bottom which is tied at the waist and accompanied by a loose piece of material called the dupatta or odhini. This was the common trend which was followed for days in South Asian countries including India and Pakistan. Every area or state has some slight variations in this and have their specific name. Each area has its specific and famous deign shown on the attire. Like Punjabis have their women suits in vibrant colors and the famous phulkari work on the duppatta. Some suits have tight fitted pants with lots of folds at the bottom called chudidar, it gets its name from the chudi which refers to bangles. The ends of the pant look like bangles stacked. There was a time when the chudidar style was a favorite among many ladies. Now the bottom has gone into a complete transformation. It has become like very loose pants similar to parallels and bell bottoms. Overall there is a huge difference in the design and form of women suits over a period of time in terms of style, designs, cuts and embellishments.
